Joshua graduated from the University of Leeds with a BSc (Hons) in Theoretical Physics and is currently pursuing an MSc in Data Analytics and Computer Science at the University of York, focusing on AI and Machine Learning. His undergraduate research explored the behaviour and mechanical properties of magneto-responsive hydrogels for potential use in targeted drug delivery applications.
Before entering the patent profession, Joshua worked as a Radiological Physics Clinical Technologist and certified Radiation Protection Supervisor at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. In this role, he was responsible for optimising the performance and safety of diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy equipment across hospitals in West Yorkshire. His duties included conducting quality assurance tests, dosimetric measurements, and calibration procedures, to ensure compliance with HSE and IR(ME)R requirements.
Joshua joined WP Thompson in 2024 and works in the PEM team, handling a wide range of cases related to computer science, medical technology and engineering. He is currently working towards becoming a qualified Patent Attorney.
