Technical Assistant
Ian graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2009 with a first-class honours degree in Microbiology. He obtained his PhD in 2015 from the University of Liverpool, where his research involved whole genome sequencing and comparative bioinformatics analyses of multiple species of the Entamoeba genus, which includes known human parasites.
Prior to entering the patent profession, Ian worked at Bangor University and the University of Liverpool in postdoctoral research positions. In these roles, Ian conducted bioinformatics analyses of data generated as part of evolutionary ecology projects, as well as performing molecular biology research at Liverpool. At Bangor, he studied the evolution of a cichlid fish population in Malawi whilst, at Liverpool, Ian was part of a team investigating evolutionary responses to simulated climate change in the model organism Daphnia magna.
Ian joined WP Thompson in 2021 and handles a wide range of biotechnology and biochemistry related cases. He is currently working towards becoming a qualified Patent Attorney.
