We at WP Thompson are proud to recognise the contributions of our Dr Julian Potter and Ranveer Riyat in the authorship of a new book titled "Artificial Intelligence and Patents: An International Perspective on Patenting AI-Related Inventions."
The book was spearheaded by John Osha in the US, who assembled patent attorneys from around the world to outline the patent landscape for AI inventions in their respective jurisdictions. Julian and Ranveer authored the chapter on the UK, which provides an overview of the current patentability standards and recent case law relating to AI and software patents in the UK.
It was a privilege for our firm to participate in this collaborative project alongside so many distinguished international colleagues. AI promises to be one of the most transformative technologies of our time, and it raises challenging new questions for patent law. We are proud that our chapter will help provide patent practitioners and innovators globally with greater clarity on the UK's approach to patenting AI.
